My Philosophy

An approach towards BEING

From a professional and personal point of view...

To survive, men and women will have to live in harmony with nature, not against it...

No one can take out of your head what you have put in

If you can find your own path, it’s because you had access to it

Until you know what you want, you're not going anywhere. Having a desire is not knowing...

There is a million things in the gap between the good players and the great Champion. For me, as a Coach, the must, is to always extend the athlete beyond what he/she will consider his/her very best

As a Coach, as an Educator there is one question that no one should be asked, or put into a position to be asked:  "Do you think you have arrived ?"... Unfortunately there are too many professional athletes who find themselves to be in that position !

The Paradox is that High Performance Athletes spend their career developing what I call "field skills" to be successful. They are obviously very ambitious, most of them are extremely tolerant and self-sacrificing in the learning process of those field skills. The aspect that is always neglected is the development of the person - meaning the character of the person. Why ? Because of improper development environment and mainly because of the EGO. Their ego is in their way

You may develop all the field skills to their fullest, but if you do not develop your Character to the fullest, there will be a major link missing

And you will never become the best person that you can possibly BE !

As a person your Character will determine your Threshold Point... The more Character you have, the higher will be your Threshold Point... The more Character you have, the more you will be able to survive, be able to resist, be able to draw from your well, the more you will be able to go to the end yourself

Human Character is not inborn... It is acquired and developed... You need the proper environment to do it...

TEACHING

Is to provide awareness, perception which will allow an athlete to understand and identify an initial playing situation and link it with an intelligent intention of play, therefore, taking care of the required field skills that will permit to perform adequately. But most of all is to educate and develop the character skills that match the competitive situation, allowing the athlete to be totally functional, providing the total freedom of expressing his/her talent. Character skills will always make the difference in the outcome as they will provide the greatest of heart and soul of the athlete to compete and survive

HUMAN DEVELOPMENT AND PERFECTION

In the science of athlete development, physiologists say "develop the athlete first and the player will eventually come out". That’s their challenge to coaching and there is some truth about it and the product of both professions is the development of "field skills" for the athlete

High performance athletes is the product of a very systematic development of the above mentioned skills. Although it is very systematic in its approach, there is a reality in high performance development; we hardly develop human skills ! It is absurd in a way and this situation leads to two realities: the low percentage of individual reaching the high performance level and also athletes that, although they have reached the high performance level, never become the best that they can possibly be

The above reality inspired me to formulate the following affirmation: "If field skills allows an athlete to perform to his best, character skills will always make the difference"

My personal quest has led me to create what I call the Psychology Of Character through the following Principles:

Character Development...

Learning to develop character is a way of customizing our powers or skills to exercise control over an environment, situation or context. Character Skills are human skills that can be learned and developed the same way as field skills. Character Skills are a must if we are to gain independence

Nature And Principles Of Learning...

The Nature and Principles of Learning are abilities to deploy or employ our powers or skills towards the structure we are engaged with

Concept Of Learning...

Learning as a concept is the utilization of proper character skills to deploy or employ ours powers, our ability to understand the structure we are engaged with, supported by our degree of commitment or engagement

The End Of Learning...

Selection of a proper methodology to deploy or employ our powers. Learning is freeing ourselves and becoming independent

Influence Of Character Over Environment...

The necessity to develop Character Skills to match the environment. Under pressure, attributes or character skills are more important than field skills. There are approximately 250 character skills, attributes and human resources in the English language

Relationship Of Character With Freedom...

The absolute necessity to develop Character Skills to gain independence or freedom. Freedom will mean nothing if you cannot have the possibility of choosing your powers. Freedom means nothing if you don’t choose who you want to become

A Paradoxical Reality...

No culture or nation has ever systematically developed a Character Skill Concept to equip their society. Character skill development is usually left or comes from family environment

There is also a profound misconception about Character which is often mistaken through the concept of Personality. In reality Personality plays the role of what I call "our commercial trademark" which serves to define our style of communication providing the tone which will be used to interact with other individuals

Character is what I call our "Personal Stamp". Human Character is BEING !

From the derivation of those above principles I decided to develop a Knowledge Acquisition and Education Program called "Character Profile View" in order to develop human character. The system has been developed through the Science of Artificial Intelligence

The basic structure of the system is composed of three Main Components:  Attitudes - Behaviors - Personal Resources

Attitudes

Aptness Skills which allow an individual to be apt to function within a certain environment or task

Behaviors

Functioning Skills which allow you to function within a certain environment or exercise control over it

Personal Resources

I call them the Toolbox Skills, allowing you to solve problems or respond adequately under a pressure or emergency situations

Those basic components are fed by 34 Character Ethics Skills, which are in turn fed by 250 Character Skills

Using this system allows you to get an overall measure of your Character Profile as well as a training development program. The system is located into the Education of the TenniScenario Campus, under Online Consulting and into either the Consulting4 Tennis or into the Consulting4 Effectiveness Departments

Character Profile View is also part of the Personal Effectiveness Development Program which recommends that you pass the test three times a year: January - May - September

It takes approximately one year of commitment to modify, improve and provide yourself a strong Character Profile. Going through the process is very rewarding and provides so much inner strength. You can follow your progress in your personal logbook provided with the program which shows your areas of strength and areas of concern

Once you have attained the Character Strength you have an inner feeling of invincibility, a feeling of being able to make everything possible for yourself, a feeling of having created the EDGE for yourself

Being: What lies behind us or lies in front of us is of small importance, compared to what remains in us
